Anne Hathaway Sinks Her Claws Into Catwoman For 'The Dark Knight Rises'

The LA Times Hero Complex caught up with Anne Hathaway for an upcoming new interview, and talked up sinking her cat claws into the role of Batman's iconic feline arch enemy in The Dark Knight Rises.

"I love the costume," Hathaway said of the outfit she wore on the set as Catwoman after shooting a pivotal (and super spoiler-centric) scene in the highly anticipated film set eight years after 2008's The Dark Knight.

"I love the costume because everything has a purpose, nothing is in place for fantasy's sake, and that's the case with everything in Christopher Nolan's Gotham City," she revealed.

Director Christopher Nolan's leather jumpsuit update on the costume includes hi-tech goggles that sit atop her head like cat ears when not in use. Excluding paparazzi photos taken during exterior scenes, official pictures of Hathaway from the film have been scarce. Only quick glimpses of her (and one as Catwoman) are seen in the IMAX exclusive prologue currently screening with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

"There's a lot of belief and codes of behavior in Gotham and my character has one, too," Hathaway said of Selina Kyle.

Celebrate Christmas Weekend With 'Doctor Who'

Whovians have something extra to look forward to this year on Christmas Weekend.

BBC America  is set to broadcast the 2011 Christmas Special, Doctor Who: The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe on December 25th at 9pm.

This will be the second Yuletide special for current and 11th Doctor, Matt Smith. Smith took over the iconic sci-fi role in 2010.

Here is BBC America's synopsis of the annual event episode.
It’s Christmas Eve, 1938, when Madge Arwell comes to the aid of an injured Spaceman Angel as she cycles home, in this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special, starring Matt Smith as the Doctor.
He promises to repay her kindness – all she has to do is make a wish.
Three years later, a devastated Madge escapes war-torn London with her two children for a dilapidated house in Dorset. She is crippled with grief at the news her husband has been lost over the channel, but determined to give Lily and Cyril the best Christmas ever.
The Arwells are surprised to be greeted by a madcap caretaker whose mysterious Christmas gift leads them into a magical wintry world. Here, Madge will learn how to be braver than she ever thought possible. And that wishes can come true…

You can view the trailer below.

To gear up on The Night Before Christmas, you can check out Doctor Who: The Best of The Christmas Specials featuring highlights from the holiday themed adventures of both the 10th Doctor, David Tennant, and number 11, Matt Smith. The special airs December 24th at 8pm on BBC America.

Though fans hoping for a swift return with new episodes in the New Year will unfortunately have to hold their breath for some time.

Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat hints that we won't see the popular Time Lord and the TARDIS back on the airwaves until the fall of 2012. By that time the character will be firmly positioned in the on-deck circle to set up for what's in store for the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who in 2013.

'Prometheus' Trailer Revealed

In the highly anticipated Prometheus, director Ridley Scott re-visits the universe he introduced to moviegoers with his tense sci-fi classic Alien.

Although no one is confirming (yet) that it will be a literal prequel in continuity to his 1979 film, on the record however, Scott did reveal to Deadline that recognizable DNA from the series will appear.

"The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative," he said.

So we will have to wait and see if any actual acid blooded Xenomorphs wreck havoc with the interstellar space crew, but H.R. Giger's signature designs will likely show up (and maybe an alien egg or two may cameo).

Though from watching this chilling epic trailer, there is enough familiar imagery to easily link it to Ellen Ripley's saga and seamlessly place the tagline from Alien right atop of this one.

"In Space No One Can Hear You Scream"

Prometheus, starring Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Idris Elba, and Patrick Wilson is set to hit theatres in 3D on June 8, 2012.

J.J. Abrams Talks Trek 2's 3D Plans

MTV News' Josh Horowitz caught up with J.J. Abrams at Monday night's NYC red carpet premiere of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, and pressed him for details on Star Trek 2.  As expected, the director remained mum on whether Khan would be the villain, but was forthcoming on his 3D plans for the film.

"We're shooting on film, 2D, and then we'll do a good high-end conversion like the Harry Potter movie and all that. Luckily, with our release date now we have the months needed to do it right because if you rush it, it never looks good," he said.
