TRAILER: 'The Lone Ranger' (Trailer #2)

See what Jerry Bruckheimer and $250 million will get you? Disney has released the second look at next summer's The Lone Ranger starring Armie Hammer as the iconic masked man and Johnny Depp as Tonto.

Unlike the first trailer released earlier this year, this second version offers a far better preview of the film's plot and the back story to Hammer's Ranger, and without question showcases the insane scale of the film, easily letting you know where the reported over $250 million budget went.

"The Lone Ranger is a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption."
The Gore Verbinski-directed film stars Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp as Tonto, and features Ruth Wilson, James Badge Dale, Barry Pepper, Helena Bonham Carter, and Tom Wilkinson.

The Lone Ranger rides into theaters on July 3rd, 2013.

TRAILER: 'The Lone Ranger'

The trailer to Disney's The Lone Ranger debuted on The Tonight Show during Ranger star Armie Hammer's after midnight appearance, and the footage went online later this morning. Behold how a big budget western is put forth as only the team behind Pirates of the Caribbean can do it.

With a reported budget of over $250 million and a massive 150-day shooting schedule, the trailer shows off where the time and money went, and its far from a throwback to a spaghetti western. Plot-wise, this first look all out ignores any reference to the actual backstory of the iconic masked title character or how his relationship to his wild west Native American companion Tonto came to be. Rather it focuses on the importance of who controls the Transcontinental Railroad. There is no hint (yet) of the rousing theme associated with the character, The William Tell Overture, but with Jack White composing the score, hopefully we will here a tribute to it in some form.

The Gore Verbinski-directed film stars Armie Hammer as The Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp as Tonto, and also features Ruth Wilson, James Badge Dale, Barry Pepper, Helena Bonham Carter, and Tom Wilkinson.

The Lone Ranger rides into theaters on July 3rd, 2013.

The film reunites Depp with his Pirates of the Caribbean director and producer team of Gore Verbinski and Jerry Bruckheimer for what promises to be one of next summer's biggest action adventures. FIRST LOOK: Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer as Tonto and The Lone Ranger

Via his Twitter page, uber producer Jerry Bruckheimer provided eager fans with the first look at Armie Hammer (Mirror, Mirror, The Social Network) and Johnny Depp saddled up as The Lone Ranger and Tonto.

The Walt Disney Pictures production is finally moving forward after budget issues that saw the film's price tag reportedly soar past $250 million. Pre-production was temporarily halted late last year until a new lower cost to make the big budget adaptation could be reigned in.

Here is Disney's official synopsis:
"Left for dead in an ambush with five other Texas Rangers, lawman John Reid (Armie Hammer) survives and is nursed back to health by an Indian scout named Tonto (Johnny Depp). He then dons a mask to avenge the murders of his comrades and to foil evil doers, never accepting payment for his services. His gratis vigilantism is made possible by the silver mine he inherits from one of his slain brothers - the same mine that affords him an endless supply of his trademark silver bullets."
Reuniting with star Depp and producer Bruckheimer is director Gore Verbisnski, who helmed the first two Pirates of the Caribbean films (and just won the Best Animated Film Oscar for Rango). The cast also features Helena Bonham Carter, Divid Fitchner, Barry Pepper, and Tom Wilkinson.

Lone Ranger rides into theaters on May 31, 2013.
