FIRST LOOK: The New Spidey Suit From 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

Director Marc Webb has already been tweeting cryptic images from the New York City but ComingSoon scored the exclusive first official look at the new costume to be seen in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, set to hit theaters May 2, 2014.

The sequel to 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man will see the return of Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen and Sally Field to their iconic Marvel Comics roles. Joining the cast will be Jamie Foxx (Electro), Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborn), Shailene Woodley (Mary Jane Watson), Paul Giammatti (Rhino), Felicity Jones and Colm Feore.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy -- between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away -- but that's a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

FIRST LOOK: 'Item 47'

Marvel Studios has released a clip from the 12-minute short film Item 47, starring Lizzie Caplan and Jesse Bradford, which will be included on this fall's The Avengers Blu-ray.

Taking place immediately following the events in The Avengers, a young couple come to possess one of the leftover alien Chitauri guns in the ruins of New York City, and proceed to go on a crime spree. Two SHIELD agents (Maximiliano Hernandez and Titus Welliver) pursue the would be Bonnie and Clyde who happen to armed with alien handgun heat.

This is not the first short film set in the established big screen Marvel universe. Item 47 follows two previous tie-in's featured in previous home releases.The Consultant and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer were extras on the Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger DVD/Blu-ray.  

Item 47 already screened at Comic-Con this past week, and setting the story immediately after Earth's Mightiest Heroes' victory over Loki's failed alien invasion of NYC seeks like a sure fire hit bonus feature for the Blu-ray.

Marvel's The Avengers is set for home release on September 25th.

Angelina Jolie Revealed As The Evil Queen in 'Maleficent'

Disney has released the first official image from Maleficent, and it's appropriately of Angelina Jolie as the evil queen and title character from its live-action adaptation of their classic animated feature Sleeping Beauty.

According to the studio press release, "This is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty. The film reveals the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora."

The film began production on June 13th, and in addition to its Academy Award-winning lead, Maleficent also features Sharlto Copley (The A-Team, District 9), Elle Fanning (Super 8), Sam Riley (On the Road), Miranda Richardson (The Hours), and Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises, Atonement).

Maleficent is set for release on March 14, 2014 in 3D.  Yes, 2014. So we are a way's away from seeing this on the big screen.

FIRST LOOK: Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer as Tonto and The Lone Ranger

Via his Twitter page, uber producer Jerry Bruckheimer provided eager fans with the first look at Armie Hammer (Mirror, Mirror, The Social Network) and Johnny Depp saddled up as The Lone Ranger and Tonto.

The Walt Disney Pictures production is finally moving forward after budget issues that saw the film's price tag reportedly soar past $250 million. Pre-production was temporarily halted late last year until a new lower cost to make the big budget adaptation could be reigned in.

Here is Disney's official synopsis:

"Left for dead in an ambush with five other Texas Rangers, lawman John Reid (Armie Hammer) survives and is nursed back to health by an Indian scout named Tonto (Johnny Depp). He then dons a mask to avenge the murders of his comrades and to foil evil doers, never accepting payment for his services. His gratis vigilantism is made possible by the silver mine he inherits from one of his slain brothers - the same mine that affords him an endless supply of his trademark silver bullets."

Reuniting with star Depp and producer Bruckheimer is director Gore Verbisnski, who helmed the first two Pirates of the Caribbean films (and just won the Best Animated Film Oscar for Rango). The cast also features Helena Bonham Carter, Divid Fitchner, Barry Pepper, and Tom Wilkinson.

Lone Ranger rides into theaters on May 31, 2013.

FIRST LOOK: Five Minutes From 'John Carter'

Yahoo! Movies has an exclusive five minute clip from Disney's John Carter. Deadline reported that the film has been tracking poorly and that Disney is in line to take a huge loss on the film that reportedly cost upwards of $250 million. It certainly looks like an expensive movie. The FX here look solid, but you have to admit that this scene is very reminiscent of the green scene heavy arena battle from Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Though that is probably the least of the worries for the execs at the House of Mouse come opening weekend.

Early leaked reviews have been somewhat promising, but the overall marketing on the film has been confusing, if not unclear regarding many aspects of the film, including that the movie takes place on Mars, or that John Cater is a Confederate Civil War soldier. Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel A Princess of Mars, the film was renamed John Carter of Mars during production, and then shortened to simply John Carter, a title that ultimately says virtually nothing from a marketing standpoint. 

That said, John Carter opens March 9th.

FIRST LOOK: The Doctor and the Ponds from 'Doctor Who' Series 7 Set

Check out the first official picture of the Doctor, and Amy & Rory Pond from the set of Doctor Who. The seventh season/series just started shooting the first of fourteen episodes yesterday and will see at some point the departure of his companions Amy and Rory played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill.

Filming has just started on Series 7 of Doctor Who in Cardiff.

This series will see the last days of the Ponds with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill returning for their final, rollercoaster voyage with the Doctor. Amy and Rory have been at the Doctor's side for more than two series but what will he do after their heartbreaking departure?

On returning for his third series as the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith says: "It's thrilling and exciting to be back and working with two of my closest friends."

Karen Gillan adds: "It's just brilliant to be back on the TARDIS with Matt and Arthur for our craziest adventures yet."

Series 7 will then see a dramatic turn of events when the Doctor meets a new friend.
Prepare yourselves for thrills, adventures and dramatic surprises as the show builds towards its enormous, climactic 50th anniversary year. Fourteen big, blockbuster-movie episodes — each a brand new epic adventure featuring new monsters and some familiar foes as you've never seen them before. 

So far, the confirmed guest stars include David Bradley (better known as Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films), Rupert Graves and Mark Williams.

The first set new of Doctor Who episodes is planned to air here in the States in the fall of 2012.
